What is the Gospel?

Simply put, the Gospel is "the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16, ESV). The Gospel is the Good News that God sent His only Son to save sinners from what we rightly deserve (judgement and condemnation) and instead He looks upon those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and is pleased with them because of the merit of His Son. Jesus Christ took on flesh, lived a perfect and blameless life, was crucified, died, buried, and resurrected. The Gospel is the sweet ransom for all who believe upon the Lord Jesus for salvation.
